My Sexy Saturday: Seven Sexy Sentences

My current WIP is tentatively entitled Marking Time: Murder at the Memorial (an Old Romance). It’s set in Alexandria, Virginia, at the George Washington Masonic Memorial. 

The George Washington Masonic Memorial stands 331 feet tall atop Shuter’s Hill in Alexandria, Virginia. The original lodge, of which our first President was Charter Mason, burned down in 1871, and it would be 61 years before the present Temple was completed.  Nine stories include not only exhibits of both Masonic lodges and appendant bodies such as the Shriners, but also a museum dedicated to George Washington. The ninth floor opens onto an observation platform, from which visitors can view all of Alexandria to the Potomac.

In Marking Time, on her first day as docent in the George Washington Masonic Memorial, Claire Wilding finds a distinctly non-Masonic item: a dead body. As she deals with a smitten police detective, a handsome Senator, black ops agents, and two ruthless mothers, she learns more than she ever expected to about jewels and pennies, irregular Masonic lodges, and our first President’s family secrets.

The handsome Senator is the hero, Gideon Bliss. This is why Claire can’t keep her mind on her work:

Gideon watched her. He licked his lips. “You know how sensual this little scene is? First, you spread the soft, creamy butter slowly over the toast, making little whorls with your delicate fingers. Then you spoon on luscious, deep red cherries. One cherry falls and you catch it with your tongue, sucking it down your waiting throat. You pick up the toast with both hands and lovingly carry it to your open lips, where—”
