Whirlwind Romance

A rush of emotion dropped a veil over all but the tiny world of the two people in seats 11A and 11B, in a jet plane floating somewhere over the Atlantic, in a still moment in time.

Welcome to the all-star all-SCP author blog hop!

We’re all excited to introduce ourselves and our heroes and heroines to you. Since it’s my turn, here goes. I have written seven romantic suspense and/or mystery novels—five with the fabulous folks at Secret Cravings. Each book has a different setting and different cast of characters. Some are murder mysteries; some romantic suspense. They all have one thing in common, though—a Happy Ending . So rather than concentrate on one story, I thought I’d give you a taste of each of the last five: Losers Keepers, Triptych, Artful Dodging: the Torpedo Factory Murders, Mai Tais and Mayhem: Murder at Mote Marine, and my latest release, Lapses of Memory. All but Lapses of Memory are available in both ebook and print.

If you’re looking for suspense, murder, and romance, try Losers Keepers, my bestselling novel about a romantic triangle enmeshed in murder set on the Atlantic barrier island of Chincoteague.

Dagne Lonegan, aka Dear Philomena, advice dispenser extraordinaire, hoped that spending a year on the Eastern Shore island of  Chincoteague to write her novel would clear her sinuses, if not her heart, of any feelings for Jack Andrews, erstwhile lover and long-time jerk.  It’s just her luck that her first week on the island she’s in the right place at the right time to be involved with a murder.  Only she doesn’t know it.  Unfortunately, the murderer doesn’t know she doesn’t know.  Strange and dangerous things begin happening to her, interfering with her new romance with Tom Ellis, the handsome manager of the National Wildlife Refuge.  Complications ensue when her Jack arrives to take charge of the murder investigation.

Will Dagne stick with the tall, cool glass of a Ranger or fall back into the arms of her first tempestuous passion?

Or how about Triptych, in which legend, history and romance intertwine in a triptych of suspense?

Both Miranda Cabot and her sister Honor prefer their solitude to romance, Miranda having watched her husband die in flames on the Potomac River rocks called the Three Sisters. Not so the youngest, Sybil, who invites a mysterious Frenchman calling himself the Chevalier du bon Arnaque to stay with them in their mansion overlooking the Sisters.

Misgivings about the stranger’s intentions lead Miranda and Honor to ask their neighbors Dieter Heiliger and his grandson Corey to chaperone. Three beautiful, strong-willed women living in a house with three handsome, virile men results inevitably in an intricate web of jealousy, sex, and intrigue. Add in long-lost master artworks, stolen prototypes and a resident genius and you have a recipe for romance. Who will end up with whom, and will the Three Sisters take another life as the legend calls for?

Then there’s Artful Dodging: the Torpedo Factory Murders. It takes place in Old Town Alexandria, an historic cobblestoned city on the Potomac River in Virginia and follows the adventures of several artists at the Torpedo Factory Art Center. Once a munitions factory on the waterfront, the Center lay abandoned after World War II until the 1970s, when an intrepid band of local ladies convinced the city to lease it to them. Today it houses 82 studios, the Art League, the Friends of the Torpedo Factory, and an Archaeology center. And in my story, a dead body or two…

Waiting out the rain, Milo Everhart takes stock of her widowhood and the handsome man standing in the door to the bar.  Little does she know she will meet that man again and again under both passionate and terrifying circumstances.

Tristram Brody waits for his date, too conscious of the beautiful woman sitting by the door. Little does he know that she will hate him for trying to destroy her beloved art center, and even suspect him of murder. Nor that she will be drawn inevitably into his arms.

Little does either of them suspect they will be embroiled in not one, but two murders, in which the fate of the Torpedo Factory, an art center housed in an old munitions factory on the waterfront in Old Town Alexandria, will be decided.

Now on to Mai Tais and Mayhem: Murder at Mote Marine, romance and mystery on the Florida Gulf coast, in which sea turtles, Russians, parrots, murder, and money figure prominently, but not necessarily in that order.

When Tessa Diamond rescues a baby pufferfish from a hungry gull, her good deed leads her into a shady world of smuggling, Russian gangsters, and coded messages. She confronts murder, attempted ravishment, parrots, sea turtles and big fish, only to encounter blossoming romances at every turn, including one of her own.

She is torn between Cameron Mason, tiger-eyed and handsome, and Dugan Trevally, sexy and dangerous, but before she can drop her longstanding opposition to marriage and accept her true love, she must face the possibility that one of them could be a thief, and even a murderer.

Now, for something completely different, try my latest release, Lapses of Memory, which asks the question: How many years, how many adventures, how many times will she lose him before she recognizes her true love?

In Lapses of Memory, Sydney Bellek recounts her life and adventures to her daughter Olivia.  Every few years from the age of five Sydney meets her true love Elian Davies, but while he remembers her, she doesn’t recognize him. Only after surviving wars, revolutions, and years of separation does she realize they are meant for each other, but in a twist of fate it is now Elian who has forgotten her. While Olivia is recording the history of her parents’ romance she must also deal with her own dilemma, choosing between the rich and dashing Rémy de Beaumec, who wants to take her around the world, and the steady, quiet, American-to-the-core, Benjamin Knox, who only wants to make her happy.

Lapses of Memory so far can boast three five-star reviews.
