Freddie nodded and climbed out of the ambulance. I watched with interest as he and the officer walked towards the porch. The officer, one of those people who used their hands to talk, waved them wildly in the air. The flashlight he held created a miniature laser show as he moved it about.  But my attention was diverted when the paramedic discovered another ding on my face and applied the medication that stung worse than the original cut.
Are any of those cuts going to leave a scar?” Luke asked from the peanut gallery.
They shouldn’t.” The paramedic cupped my chin in his palm and moved my head back and forth, studying his handiwork. He pushed a strand of long brown hair that had escaped from my bun away from my face. “Not as long as she keeps them clean and they don’t get infected.”
One more thing for me to worry about. I tried to remember which cheek James Bond’s scar was on. Or were female PI’s supposed to be flawless? If so, I'd never qualify. My glasses were enough to eliminate me.
It didn’t take long until Freddie came back. “How long were you here before the shot was fired?” he asked. He seemed tired as he climbed back into the ambulance and stood opposite me, bending so his head wouldn't scrape the roof of the ambulance.
Maybe fifteen minutes.”
And Luke and Joe were with you the whole time?”
Well, no.” With Freddie back into cop mode, not friend mode, I got nervous. “I drove up ten minutes or so before them.” I glanced at the boys, and Joe shrugged.
Did you go into the house while you were waiting?”
No.” I felt the heat in my cheeks. “I thought I saw something moving upstairs, and decided to wait outside for them. It was probably just the reflection of a bird on the window, but I didn’t want to take any unnecessary chances. Besides, they were bringing the cleaning equipment.”
Did you hear the shot? Was there more than one?”
What the hell? “No, I didn’t, I was singing.”
Badly,” muttered Luke.
Off-key,” added Joe.
I never claimed to be good.
But we didn’t hear it either,” Luke said, defending me.

Lila’s Visitors

Lila pulled the long johns from the pot.  The water still steamed and she was tempted to jump into the wash water and baste herself in hot liquid.  Who’s to know? It was only dirt from her husband’s old underwear.  And David’s long gone.  She checked the windows again—Gabe must have given up. She’d caught him peeking in twice this week. Despite herself, her vulva warmed at the thought. He’s so handsome. Those black curls and that strong Roman nose. She’d first seen him in the market, hawking his fish. Muscled biceps, steel hard chest, only lightly covered with fine black hair. Then last week he’d turned quickly to find her staring at him. He had smiled, his black eyes sparkling. Yeah, but then he slapped a twenty-pound cod on the table and ripped its gills out. After that, she avoided his cart.
The second encounter happened a couple of days later. She’d been in the garden, bent over to pull a weed out. A gust of air raised her skirt. The sudden cold air on her ass reminded her that she’d forgotten to put underwear on that morning. Something tickled the back of her neck and she straightened. Gabe stood behind her. His eyes rose from her breasts to her face. He spun on his heel and loped off.
The third time she’d been cooking. She stopped to wipe a wet tendril from her perspiring face and there he was, staring in the window. He’d opened his mouth, but then closed it and disappeared. She’d caught him one more time only yesterday. She toyed with the idea of notifying the police, but…It’s nice to have a man find me attractive after all these years. He didn’t seem dangerous after all. Just horny.
She checked the window again. Hell, why not?  She stripped and lowered herself gingerly into the basin.  Steam roiled around her, stuffing her nostrils and curling under her armpits. Warm water seeped into her pussy and stiffened her nipples. She began to relax, her mind going back to the sensuous times of her youth, when she and Eric would go to the pine barrens. He would strip her naked and take pictures as she posed in whatever erotic position he invented. Once a young man happened upon them. At first she was mortified, but at Eric’s urging, she’d let the fellow suck her tits and finger fuck her while Eric danced around them with his camera.
Then came David. The fun stopped when she married him. What a miserable five years they’d spent, until he confessed his love for another. Hiding the relief, she let him go.
The water began to cool. She climbed out of the pot and padded across to the tea kettle, hugging her breasts in the chill air. She poured more hot water into the cauldron and stepped in. The water resumed its fondling. Oh how I wish I had a man in here with me! As her finger inched toward her pussy, she paused. What was that sound? She half rose, her breasts bobbing on the surface. Nothing. I’m alone. She sank blissfully back.
“Hello, Lila.”
“Eric! How the hell did you get in?”
“Nice greeting for an old friend.” He sat on the edge of the tub, swishing a finger in the water.
“I thought you were still in jail.”
He snorted. “I can see you don’t keep up with my activities. They let me out for good behavior last week.” He leaned forward and flicked her nipple. “You’re looking good, Lila. It’s been—what—six years?”
She squirmed away. “Leave me alone, Eric.”
“Ah, honey.” He stood up and pulled his shirt over his head. His chest was covered with tattoos and old scars. “We used to have such good times. Remember the pine barrens? I still have those photos. Betcha didn’t know I recruited Hank to find us that day.” He smacked his lips. “You were an easy mark then.”
Lila searched for her clothes. Damn. There they are—by the sink. Too far. He’d catch her before she reached them. She eyed Eric warily.
He moved around to stand behind her. At his touch she shivered. “Don’t worry. I’m just going to give you a little massage…for old times’ sake.”
She didn’t believe him. Eric had been a rough lover, getting close to, but never over the line. Now she sensed he intended to go over that line. “Eric, stop it.”
Instead, his hands slid over her shoulders and down to her breasts. He squeezed them, rubbing the nipples until they turned hard and red. She tried to move away but he held them in a painful grip.  “Eric!”
Crash. Eric’s hands slipped off her and she heard him land heavily on the floor. She rose out of the water and turned around. Gabe stood over Eric’s prostrate form, a baseball bat in his hand. He looked up. “You okay?”
Too late she remembered she was naked. His eyes raked her skin. She dropped under the surface, her face flushed. “Yes, I’m okay.”
He fidgeted, suddenly embarrassed. “Just passing by. Seemed like you were in trouble. Were you?”
“Yes.” She pointed at Eric. “He’s an old…friend. But not a welcome one. Thanks for rescuing me.”
He stared at her, then shook himself. “I’ll just drop this fellow off at the police station, then.”
He paused. “What?”
How she wanted to ask him to come back. No, you’ve had enough excitement for one night. “Nothing.”
“Oh.” He dug  his hands under Eric’s arms and dragged him out the door.
Instead of getting out, Lila lay back, trying to calm down. The water was still warm, and gradually her breathing went back to normal. She thought about Gabe. He must have been spying on me. The notion didn’t frighten her. Where Eric’s touch had repulsed her, Gabe’s excited her. I wish…I wish…
Reluctantly, she rose, pulled a dish towel from the drawer, and dried herself off. Before heading to bed, she stoked the fire. As she sat on the couch watching the flames spark and flash, her eyelids grew heavy. I’ll just lie down for a minute. It’s so nice and cozy here.
Something brushed her lips. “Hello Lila.”
“Hello, Gabe.”
He kneeled by her, his dark eyes gleaming. She raised a hand and unbuckled his belt. He watched her hungrily. She pulled the zipper of his jeans down and lifted his cock out. A tentative lick made it jump. She sucked the whole thing between her lips and drew him nearer. He steadied himself on the floor and began to pump into her mouth. She felt it go rigid, but he pulled out. “Wait.”
He unbuttoned his shirt and, kicking off his shoes, dropped his pants. Kneeling down again, he kissed her. Reaching a finger out, he touched one nipple, rotating. She concentrated on the sensation,  feeling it grow and harden. He moved to the other breast and did the same thing. Lila’s chest rose and fell with pent-up desire.
He let the finger trace the line of her diaphragm down to her belly button. Juices flowed into her vulva, wanting, waiting. She held still. His finger moved lower, then stopped just short of her pussy. She lifted her hips in the vain hope that he would take the hint. He watched her, a small smile on his face. “You want more?”
She could only nod.
He spread his hand and cupped her mound.  His fingers pressed and rubbed the lips of her vagina. She began to shake. “Please.”
He inserted a finger into her pussy, then another. Just as she felt the orgasm prick at her, he withdrew them. Trembling, she stuffed a fist in her mouth to stop herself from begging. He rose, towering over her, then lifted her  and placed her on the floor. His penis, hard and thick, bobbed close to her mouth and she tried to catch it.  Just as her lips closed on it he twisted around to face her toes.
Gentle fingers caressed the back of her calf, then slowly moved up to her inner thigh. He dropped kisses after the fingers until he reached her hips. He split her legs wide. Suddenly his tongue dove into her pussy, laving the lips and sucking them into his mouth. A cry of sheer pleasure broke from her mouth.
Now he inched up her body until his lips touched hers again. The cock batted against her thigh. She took hold of it and guided it in. They began the timeless dance of desire, dipping into each other’s body, pulling away, ever closer, ever more synchronized. His ebony eyes bored into hers, willing her to give in, to let go, to abandon the carefully nurtured restraints on her wild nature.
At the moment, her eyes wide, she screamed. His mouth crushed hers while his cock pulsed with life.
They slept.
As the rooster crowed in the yard, Lila opened an eye. The light was pale and cold. She looked out the window for the sun and instead saw a face. Stunned, she lay back next to Gabe. She heard the door open.

“Hello Lila.”

Welcome Kenzie Michaels & NiKoh's Chosen

Welcome Kenzie Michaels! I know you’re going to tell us about NiKoh’s Chosen, the sequel to your wonderful sci-fi erotic romance Heart’s Last Chance, but will you first bring us up to speed on the story behind it? Thanks!

The Story Behind NiKoh’s Chosen

Have you ever read a story and wondered how the author came up with the idea?  Let me tell you, I never thought I would write Sci-Fi Romance, because a) I tried to write my own ending to Star Wars in the 9th grade and failed miserably; and b) description is my weak point!

If you’ve already heard the story of how Heart’s Last Chance came about, bear with me; this is brief recap for those who haven’t heard the story. Back in 2002, Brock and Tricia met, spent the night together, and everything was going well when all of a sudden, Brock uttered those dreaded words:

“I’m not exactly from Earth.”

*needle scratch*  Say WHAT?

I put it away for ten years.  Then pulled it out and thought I’d see where it would go.  After two title changes, it released September 2014 and everyone loves it.
I’d tentatively written the first four chapters of NiKoh’s story, Brock’s older brother, but he didn’t like the direction I was taking him, and refused to speak to me.  A tiny problem occurred:  I’d pitched Brock and Tricia’s story with the idea of four sequels, and already had release dates lined up.  When NiKoh refused to speak to me, little sister Kira started telling me her story and wouldn’t shut up until it was written.  What’s the problem?  Her book is #4 in the series.

Finally, NiKoh decided he’d been upstaged enough and I was able to write his story.  I think you’ll like the direction this saga is going, and NiKoh has already had his first favorable review.

In addition, Brock’s story, Heart’s Last Chance, has been nominated in the LRC Best Of Awards, for Best Sci-Fi/Futuristic Romance of 2014.  If you’ll ‘like’ my author page on Facebook (link at bottom of this post), I’ll keep you apprised of the voting link and ultimately, the results.  I’m hoping to place well!

Book #2, The Chosen series
Sci-Fi Romance; Erotic (4 flames)
50,000 words

Still mourning the tragic death of his beautiful mate, could another Chosen one already be waiting for NiKoh SiLah? To avoid what he’s not ready to accept, he throws himself into his work at Planet Security.

Leaving the Academy behind to follow her dream of working with animals, GiNae SoJae returns home. Preoccupied with work and not ready to take a mate, she’s horrified when her body enters Maturity. GiNae fights the changes occurring within her. But during nightly dreams she cannot control, an unknown man teaches her the secrets of her body.
Will NiKoh and GiNae succumb to the paths they think have been chosen for them or will they discover the true Chosen life that awaits them?

In this exclusive excerpt, GiNae is not pleased with what she perceives the direction her life is taking and is doing everything within her power to get it to stop.  Unfortunately, she doesn’t understand Maturity can’t be ‘willed away’.  I based some of this on my sister’s determination to never go through puberty, ha ha!

Excerpt (G)
“Your mother was only trying to show her support of you earlier.”

“I know. Thank you for getting her to back off.” The firelight danced across GiNae’s soft features, causing her green eyes to glow. “I’ve spoken with both my friend RaKel and my mother, and there is a way out of this. All you have to do, NiKoh, is go before the elders and ask for a special dispensation, and all this will cease.”

NiKoh tried to remain composed, but her earnestness, along with her determination to stop the inevitable, was too much. He felt the laughter build, no matter how he tried to quell it, but to no avail. “I’m so sorry, GiNae. Forgive me,” he managed before the urge overtook him.

“What is with you? All you do is laugh at me. I’m serious, NiKoh! Won’t anyone take me seriously?” Her rage fueled his laughter, and as she stood to storm off, he lunged, catching her by the arm.

“I’m sorry,” he gasped. “Please, sit. Let me explain.”

“So far, all I understand is I seem to humor you.” She shook free, but sat back down, crossing her arms over her small bosom.

NiKoh coughed, trying to get his laughter under control. “I’m not trying to anger you, really I’m not. It’s just there seems to be a misunderstanding here.”

“My mother is never wrong.”

“You’re right, she isn’t. Let me see if I get this straight. You want me to go before the elders, and get them to agree we aren’t compatible, so you will, what? Stop going through Maturity? Or is there someone else you have your eye on for your Chosen?” NiKoh nearly laughed when he saw the horrified expression on her face.

“You mean…these dreams, visions, whatever, will continue? Even if the dispensation is granted?”

NiKoh shrugged, holding up his hands. “I have no control over my subconscious, and neither do you. The dreams are a part of the Maturity process, GiNae.” He picked up his goblet and sipped.

GiNae stood up. “Great. Just great. So everybody goes through this?”

Thanks for having me today, M. S.!  At the end of the month, I will be giving away a NiKoh’s Chosen Prize Pack, full of goodies.  Entry is simple:  Leave a comment with your contact info and what format e-book (pdf, kindle) you prefer, since names WILL be selected at random to win copies of either NiKoh’s Chosen or Heart’s Last Chance.

Fabulous Football Romance from Jean Joachim

Welcome Jean Joachim. I love football too so I'm really looking forward to hearing about your two new football romances.

FIRST & TEN SERIES by Jean Joachim

I’ve loved football since high school. Our biggest rivalry was over football. Swooning over football players began early and has never gone away. So I’ve written my own drool-worthy football heroes and given them hot, loving women.
Here are the first two books in this series.

He wanted a wife. She didn’t want to get married – ever.  Not exactly a match made in heaven. Ten years ago, Griff Montgomery, star quarterback of the Kings and womanizer, became a stand-in father for his widowed sister’s kids. After they moved away, Griff wanted his own family. But where does a “player” go to find his ideal mate?

Having sworn off marriage forever, Lauren Farraday barely kept her life together after her divorce. With her career shaky and depression closing in, the last thing she needed was a courtroom battle with a sexy athlete.

A snippet:
“I like having him around.” Griff increased his pace to a fast walk.
Trunk snickered. “In bed with a dog? You’re slipping.”
“He’s better looking than anything you’ve slept with.”
“Are you referring to my wife?” Trunk’s tone turned belligerent.
“Oh, you’re married? Gee, I didn’t think so when we were in Miami, San Francisco, and Dallas last year,” Griff shot back.

Known for his record-breaking stats and womanizing ways, wide receiver, Buddy Carruthers, would give it all up for one chance to win the only woman he ever wanted, Emmy Meacham. Hard-won games, and traveling half the season kept Buddy from pursuing his secret passion. Even if he managed to corner her for a moment, would she still care?
Now a rock star known as Emerald, Emmy lived her life on the road with no time for love. In her dreams, she longed to turn back the clock and spend another night with Buddy. But lies and deceit had kept them apart for five years. Would a chance meeting wash away those years or cause old wounds to resurface? Could two lives traveling in opposite directions make room for love or would they continue to spin, out of sync, and always alone?

A snippet:
“Do you really need so much for only a week?”
“You’re right. Let’s return the lingerie.”
Buddy put his hand on hers as she was reaching for the bag. “Don’t be hasty. Maybe I’m wrong. I don’t know how much you need. This looks okay to me.”
She snickered. “So transparent, Carruthers.”

Welcome Lisabet Sarai and her New Release

Please welcome Lisabet Sarai, introducing her newest release, D&S Duos, Book 4. She is presenting a PG excerpt here, but be aware that D&S Duos is a work of erotica.

D&S Duos Book 4 by Lisabet Sarai
Published  2015 by Excessica.com
BDSM Erotica, 8700 words

Lisabet Sarais D&S Duos Book 4 celebrates the thrill of sexual power and the ecstasy of surrender. In “Like Riding a Bicycle”, after years of vanilla marriage, a couple resumes the kinky games that first drew them together. The characters in “Limbo” experience the ultimate erotic connection thanks to dangerous and addictive out-of-body technology. D&S Duos Book 4 also includes bonus story “Blind Obedience” and a transgressive excerpt from Lisabets erotic thriller Bangkok Noir.

Excerpt (PG)
We make our choices, often blindly. Then we live with the consequences.

It's your fiftieth birthday, I'm half a world away, and married to someone else. I honestly don't know which is the bigger obstacle. No, scratch that. If today's experiment is successful, the distance will mean nothing.

I want to help you celebrate. To give you something special. Romantic and cynic that you are, I want to prove to you my enduring devotion, across time and space. I want to give back to you some of the magic you've shared with me.

I climb out of the taxi at the entrance to an alley too narrow for the compact Toyota to navigate, hand the driver a hundred baht and head toward my destination on foot. I'm somewhere in the maze of venerable lanes of Cholon. I smell star anise and decaying fish. I pass racks of drying laundry and bins of preserved fruit.

The address you emailed me belongs to a surprisingly grand, if somewhat decrepit, building, three stories of balconies and shutters. No sign. When I ring the bell, I am ushered into the waiting room by a powdered and rouged crone wearing too-tight silk and ropes of jade beads. She gestures for me to sit on the velvet banquette and shuffles away. The walls are mirrors, framed by faded brocade draperies. I can't help grinning to myself; clearly, this state-of-the-art Monroe parlor used to be a brothel.

This was my idea, but you did all the research. I know that you're somewhere in the basement of a fancy hotel in San Francisco. Very exclusive, top security. For executives who want the ultimate inteleconferencing.

The madame returns with a sheaf of papers. Release forms. Of course it's all illegal anyway, but no one wants to take any chances. There are documented cases of people going astral and never returning. The parlor doesn't want to be stuck with my still breathing but non-sentient body.
